I wanted to share my recent feature in an online blog post, “10 Misleading Assumptions about Mental Illness—Learn the Truth.” I felt compelled to respond to this interview request because someone I know recently committed suicide. Everyone is in shock and cannot understand how this could have happened. He had a great family, a great career and he seemed happy.
Depression looks different for everyone. Some people seem obviously depressed and you can tell right away. Others function, go to work, go through the motions of daily life and you would never guess the person is depressed.
This article is important because it informs readers about many common assumptions people have regarding mental illness.
